New Tricks

Tristan has been figuring all kinds of things out lately and I'm afraid that I'll forget them if I don't write them down.
1st: He figured out that sucking his thumb is pretty fun. I've tried repeatedly to get a picture of him but he always pulls it out just as the camera flashes or he sticks his tongue out at me. If I can get a picture, I'll post it. It doesn't come as much of a surprise to me that my son sucks his thumb. After all, his mother (yes, me) sucked her thumb until she was thirteen. Yes, I said thirteen! I lucked out though, I've never had braces and I still ended up with perfectly straight teeth. For now Tristan still prefers the binky, lets hope it stays that way!
2nd: He figured out how to click his tongue yesterday. He was sitting in his swing while I was working out and he must have been bored because he just started clicking away. It was so funny! The funniest part though is that he won't do it when you're looking at him, as soon as you turn your back he clicks again. I don't know if he's trying to get our attention or if he's just playing a game because he smiles at you when you turn around and laugh.
3rd: He finally rolled over for the first time today!!!! I was so excited! I was starting to get worried that I was a bad mother because he didn't get enough tummy time. But I guess he didn't need it since he flipped from his back to his belly. Unfortunately, I was working and Chad was watching TV so we both missed it. One minute he was playing happily on his activity mat and the next time Chad looked over at him he was happily playing on his mat on his belly. I came up to the family room and tried to get him to do it again but he was too excited that I was there and just kept reaching to me. Though he hadn't rolled over yet, he still has a way of getting around, he wiggles, rocks and squirms until he's completely turned around or slid 3 feet from where he started out. I have a feeling that he's going to be crawling fairly soon after he masters this rolling thing.
Some other things he's mastered:
Eating cereal. I have to time it just right though. If he's too hungry, he yells because he's not getting it fast enough and ends up getting so mad that I end up having to nurse him. If he's not hungry enough, then he won't eat much. He already tries to feed himself, he grabs the spoon or my hand and pulls it towards his mouth.
Flirting... haha he's definitely my child! ;) I had five people come up to me after Sacrament meeting on Sunday and tell me that they just couldn't stop watching him because he's so cute and apparently very distracting. He smiles at everyone, especially other kids. He thinks they're quite fascinating (I'm sure they think the same of him).
Riding in the car. Lately, he'd started getting fussy in the car because he couldn't see anything except the back of the seat. If someone sat in the back with him he was fine but neither Chad or I enjoy sitting the back of the car since we both have long legs. The funniest thing was he would get mad if it was dark and he couldn't see his toys that were attached to the car seat. He would start yelling but if I turned on the dome light he was just fine and would go back to playing with his toys. Turn it off, and he'd start yelling again. Haha we experiemented several times to see if that was really why he was upset. We transferred him to the next size carseat and he loves it because he sits up higher and can actually see outside so he doesn't mind riding by himself.
I can't believe my little baby is getting so big already! He's wearing 6-9 months clothes and most people do a double take when I say he's not quite 5 months. All the clothes we bought for him before he was born are not going to fit him this fall... he'll probably be wearing them mid-summer! Haha oh well! I'm so happy that I've got such a healthy, happy little boy. Plus, lugging him around is quite the workout!

Puppy Love

Tristan has recently discovered the dogs and wants to hold them. They don't seem to mind since they are more than willing to put their noses right in his face and let him grab on. He thinks they're quite funny and I think Kallie thinks he is her new puppy. Notice the paw on him in the pic above.

Monkey Monkey

After I had the miscarriage last year, Chad brought home a stuffed monkey for me to make me feel better. He's very soft and floppy. A couple weeks ago, Tristan spotted him in his room with all his other stuffed animals and got very excited so I gave him the monkey. It's his new best friend. We call him Monkey Monkey. If Tristan is upset and not wanting to go to sleep, we just have to give him Monkey Monkey and he'll cuddle him and fall asleep.Ahhh sleepy time!

Chunky Monkey

Tristan had is 4 month check up today. He's growing like a weed! He is 17lbs and 6oz and 26 inches long! He's going to need a new car seat soon as well as some more clothes. He has some long legs, the pants that really fit him now are 6-9 months but he still can wear the 3-6 months tops just fine. It's fun to see how much he changes week to week. Just this last weekend he started "talking". His name means "noisy" and he's started to live up to that. Even during Sacrament meeting at church. I swear he waits until it's silent to yell! He's also started laughing a lot more now. It makes me so happy when he giggles or even just smiles at me. I think he knows that too because when I'm getting frustrated that he's crying for no reason or just being a fussy pain in the butt, he'll suddenly stop and just look at me and smile. It's hard to be mad at him when he's so darn cute!
One of Tristan's favorite things is bath time. He's such a little tadpole. He basically out grew his baby bath tub a month or more ago so I've started just bringing him in the tub with me. He LOVES LOVES LOVES it! He gets so excited when he hears the bath water running. I just hold his head out of the water and let him float. He goes crazy, kicking and splashing, pushing off the bottom of the tub and squirming all over. And if I take him out before he's ready to be done, he gets mad and pouts. He's never hated baths like all the baby books said most babies do. From the very first time, he's just kicked back and enjoyed the warm water. I took this picture on my phone because the camera was not close by and he just looked so adorable. I'm sad it's not the best quality because it's one of my favorite pics now.
